Country House (Monochrome Monday)

This is last of my country themed rejects I promise you. This house is what we call in Australia a Queenslander – a name given to a one-level home that has a large wrap-around veranda around the entire house that is covered by the roof.

Country House

Combined with the high-pitched roof, these homes offered a unique coolness both inside and out to its occupants over the long drawn-out summers. These homes were found more-so in the country areas and were, and still are, just beautiful.

    • These verandahs are beautiful when the rain falls also. Our house in Brisbane had verandahs like these on three sides of the house. During the summer storms we could sit and watch the storms around us. Simply glorious on a hot, muggy day! 🙂
