This week’s challenge from the Daily Post is STATE OF MIND. As Ben Huberman says, “Photos show us the surface of things, but they often tell much deeper stories about the objects they depict — and about the people who take them.”
As luck would have it, Miss Twelve provided just wanted I needed as recently she downloaded all her baby-photos and has meticulously been going through each and every one of them, showing me her favourites as she goes. This being one of them.
On this particular morning, Master Fourteen (who was two at the time), heard his sister was awake before I did. Into the room he went, climbing into her crib to keep her company until I arrived.
My heart simply melted on seeing him sitting there amusing his sister. His reward – her biggest, gummiest smiles. They were, and secretly still are, each other’s biggest fans.
Given I battled with Post Natal Depression after my daughter was born, and am still dealing with some residual residue from it, these photos are even more precious as a lot of my memories from this time are more than a tad blurred.
How wonderful! This one picture tells more than a thousand words!!

It was certainly one of “those” moments in time. This and the day I went in to find he’d already changed her nappy, lol! 🙂

I just knew there was a special story behind this photo. Sometimes in life , when we unravel, through no fault of our own,the bits don’t always go back together again but rearrange themselves in a way which we don’t recognise. It is very unnerving. What I love about this poignant tale is how much love there is between the three of you. You make a little circle of love which will never be broken. That is a HUGE achievement and stands as testament to your skills as a loving Mum x

Oh Karen, thank you, you’ve brought tears to my eyes. It’s only been in the last couple of years, whilst dealing with the loss of my father, that I’ve begun acknowledging both what I’ve achieved and the price I’ve paid. Oddly it’s been very liberating and a great leveller of determining genuine people (SUCH the time saver, lol!).
And it’s very true, the three of us have created such a strong circle that remains today. We may fight with a passion but we love each other with that same passion. For ever and ever! 💞
