My Island Serenity (WPC – Serene)

No matter what has transpired, or unfortunately hasn’t transpired during the day, being able to look out the window to witness Mother’s Nature’s closing act on the day brings about a calmness, a serenity like no other for me.

Evenings like this provide a wonderful reminder that no matter how wonderful or how frustrating today was, it was but just one day. Tomorrow the sun will rise again bringing with it another day of new beginnings.

Serene is The Daily Post Weekly Challenge for this week!

The race is on! (Wordless Wednesday)

Ruffled by the cold winter winds (Weekly Weather – Cold)

Our cold miserable Saturday was brightened considerably with the visit from this beautiful blue heron in our tree. He arrived at lunchtime and was still there when the light left the sky that evening.

We thought we were getting a return visit on Sunday however when the heron flew up from the harbour he didn’t stop at the tree. Instead it flew directly towards our sun-room, skimming up over the roof at the last possible moment. Both the cat and I actually ducked when it flew overhead!🤣

Cold is the Weekly Weather Challenge word this week from Tourmaline.

A lone autumn visitor! (Monochrome Monday)

Although the cold autumn winds have dispersed most of the birds that frequent the tree outside my kitchen window, this lone robin remained.

Through no fault of their own, robins have never been a favorite of mine. Sadly, when they’re on the ground they remind me of a Queensland toad. An ugly beast at the best of times!

Chihuly with a hint of Christmas! (Friday Flowers)

These flowers were outside in the gardens of the Chihuly Glass and Garden exhibition in Seattle. It was the end of the day, the sun was setting and people were not wanting to stop whilst I took my happy snaps.

Consequently I wasn’t particularly happy with any of my photos. That was until I transferred one to my phone. Oh the joy of photo editing apps… they breathe new life into anything!

Transforming Vegetables (WPC – Transformation)

What better way to enjoy the cold weather then with a warming cup of soup. Last week I tried a new recipe of Roasted Peppers and Cauliflower. Topped with chili flakes and a handful of coriander leaves, it was simply FABULOUS!

It’s glorious how combining only a few vegetables with a stock over heat for a couple of hours transforms them into a completely different realm. Transformation is The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge this week.

And a HUGE Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends – may your turkey be hot whilst your drinks very cold!

Same time, same place, for the last three years! (Wordless Wednesday)
