Raindrops make everything better! (Feathered Friday)

It’s a love/hate relationship between the Stella Jay and I. They have a tendency of being a tad “over-enthusiastic” thus scaring away many of the little birds. This occasion however was the exception. It’s hard to resist tiny raindrops scattered like glitter over one’s head!

As we had so, so many birds visiting last month on their way to Alaska, Feathered Friday is currently dedicated to them and their safe travels!

Proudly wearing a ring of confidence (Feathered Friday)

For the previous two summers I’ve been referring to this bird as my Mourning Dove. However, looking up my handy-dandy bird book (yes, finally!) it says this is a Eurasian Collared Dove. To quote my teenage daughter… oooooo, fancy!

And I was like… REALLY!?

Is it just me or should some animals really come with their very own word bubbles above them. This Thrush may have been small but exuded more than enough sass for the both of us!

My wannabe Hummingbird (Feathered Friday)

This little guy was an equal-opportunity bird, dividing his time equally between long drinks from my Hummingbird feeder then snacking at my seed feeder nearby. What the?

If you know what he is please let me know. Initially I thought he was a finch but his beak, allowing him to guzzle sugar-water at the rate he did, has me now wondering otherwise!

Will the real ANGRY BIRD please stand up! (Feathered Friday)

And there was me thinking the Angry Bird movie was simply a piece of fiction. Looking at this gentleman it would appear the movie is indeed based on a true story!

Just below me on the rocks! (Feathered Friday)

What a delight to see one of my Bald Eagles down on the rocky beach below our house instead of tucked away on the branches of our tree. The branches which neither face our house nor allow me a clear view of them, grrr!

With such an abundance of bird life this spring I thought I’d begin a “Feathered Friday” to introduce you to just a few of the new, and not so new, arrivals!

They grow up so fast! (Feathered Friday)

Already this juvenile Bald Eagle is showing signs of adulthood with more white on his head and that much more yellow in his beak. Oh how I appreciate his visits showing me these subtleties of his aging!

Head first into the day ahead! (Feathered Friday)

No matter how many Bald Eagles I see, each and everything I see one I still stop and look in awe at these magnificent creatures. No matter their size, they always look graceful.
