Dude, it’s not as bad as it looks! (Wordless Wednesday)

Way back when it was summer…

With the children starting back at high school tomorrow, for me the summer is well and truly over and fall is here despite what the calendars or others may say.

We were a tad overambitious with our backyard with not quite as many of our summer projects being ticked off our list as hoped. However this is our wonderful new fence the Hubster created from old pallets. Isn’t it just fabulous? It pairs well with our Japanese Maple!

MM Side Fence

The backyard is still very much a work in progress but this fence alone has made it feel so much better already. Our kitchen on the other-hand has come along in leaps and bounds, woohoo!

All this is very different to the “behind the scenes’ with this blog. A sure tell-tale sign you’ve not posted for a long time is when you go to write a post and nothing, and I mean NOTHING, is the same. The entire layout and setup is different. Goodness, the times they really are a changing!

Summer Love!

Having the baby deer visiting in our backyard is a glorious way to commence our summer. They are just so darn cute and seemingly always full of energy and curiosity!

Not sure how they’ll take to all our work in the backyard over the summer but hopefully they’ll approve. These little cuties at least should prove to be fabulous mascots. There’s a lot, and I mean a LOT, of work planned for our backyard over the summer with fences, stairs, and leveling hoping to be ticked off the list.

Consequently all this work will have me away from the computer for a good part, if not all, of the summer. With that in mind I wish you all a safe and happy summer creating wonderful memories however you choose to spend your time, and I look forward to catching up with you again in the fall!

Showing one’s true colors! (Macro Monday)

The cheeky Stella Jay birds enjoy sitting on the branches directly outside the kitchen window, taunting the cats with their closeness, safe in the knowledge the cats are unable to make contact.

The Stella’s also seem to know when I’m attempting to photograph them. Just when I have the photo set-up, boom, the birds move. That’s okay, I prefer their stunning blue color over their boisterous character anyways!
