Sunday mornings driving around town has become mutually beneficial to both myself and my son – he gets in his driving practice whilst I get to play photographer. There’s so much more to see when you’re not the driver!
The Daily Post Photo Challenge this week is… Lines.
Despite what might be happening outside my window right now, the birds and blooms are telling me the earth is awakening. It’s spring time!
Awakening is the Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge this week.
From the very beginning, my father and my son had a very special connection. Within months of my son’s birth, he was in my father’s arms as he sat at the dining room table doing crosswords.
Five years later when we were wandering around the Colosseum in Rome on a particularly blustery day, a piece of newspaper landed on the back of my son’s legs. For reasons unclear at the time, he kept ahold of this paper until we stopped for lunch.
Once our lunch orders had been taken my son requested a pen. Why? He needed to do the crossword of course. He then sat diligently filling in the squares. The fact it was in Italian was of little consequence. Oh how I love that boy!
And how I love how my son even now, over ten years later, still equates crosswords with his grandfather. This memory will always makes me smile tears of joy. Smile is this week’s Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge.
A new day brings a new beginning. A day to begin a new project, a day to begin planning a new adventure, or sometimes it’s simply a day to keep putting one foot in front of the other.
In the encouraging words of my darling mother… sometimes you just have to live each day to spite those who don’t want you to. My mother, our very own ray of sunshine!🙃

The upside of not being able to sleep last week (I’ve yet to find the upside of not being able to sleep this week) was that I was able to follow the full moon from its high point in the sky until it finally dipped behind the trees.
As with the sun setting each night allows one to rewrite the next day, for me each full moon is a reminder to reflect on how the last few weeks were, and what the coming weeks will be. Well, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
Story is The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge for this week.
Driving across central Iceland is like driving nowhere else in the world. Particularly in the dead of winter with a setting sun. Dormant volcanic mounds dot the landscape in every direction. The road the only evidence of man’s existence.
There was a rumor going around when we lived there, that this is where NASA would send it’s astronauts to get a sense of what it would be like on the moon. We believed it!
Out of This World is the current challenge of The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge.
The memory of my little family sitting at a cafe located on the Piazza San Marco, listening to the live band behind us whilst we watched the many tourists around us creating their own memories, will forever be etched in my mind.
As we sat drinking in the atmosphere, complete with princess water bottle, each of us were simply another a face in the crowd enjoying the morning to those looking in our direction.

Never did I dare dream that not only would I fulfill my desire of traveling to Morocco (and spending a night in the Sahara Desert) but I would do so with my young children. What an amazing time we had with so many incredible experiences!
Here my two little darlings are enjoying some “down-time” with a game by the pool at Sawadi, our kasbah for the week we spent in Southern Morocco.
The Daily Post Photo Challenge this week is Beloved.
Right after a snowfall where we first lived in Canada was always so beautiful. Along with this snowfall would always come a glorious calming silence. Well, there would be silence for a little while at least.
Following a snowfall the air would be filled with the awful scrapping sound of metal on concrete, intertwined with the sound of machines, as we all cleared our driveways before the next snowfall, ugh!
Silence is this week’s Photo Challenge from The Daily Post.
No matter what has transpired, or unfortunately hasn’t transpired during the day, being able to look out the window to witness Mother’s Nature’s closing act on the day brings about a calmness, a serenity like no other for me.
Evenings like this provide a wonderful reminder that no matter how wonderful or how frustrating today was, it was but just one day. Tomorrow the sun will rise again bringing with it another day of new beginnings.
Serene is The Daily Post Weekly Challenge for this week!
