Early Morning Recreation (A Photo a Week Challenge: Recreation)

When in Australia there’s nothing nicer then taking an early morning walk following the river out to the ocean. On this particular morning there was myself, a fisherman, and a stand-up paddle-boarder.

Each of us doing something different, yet all happy in our chosen form of recreation. Recreation is this week’s A Photo a Week Challenge from Nancy Merrill Photography.

Say NO to Transient Trash! (WPC – Transient)

When on holidays or simply at the beach, what does a piece or two of trash slipping out of one’s fingers matters? It matters a heck of a lot when you see what’s left behind after a cyclone’s been and gone.

Living our lives as transient beings is one thing, however not dealing with our trash along the way is a completely other matter. Transient is The Daily Post Photo Challenge this week.

7-Day Nature Challenge: Day 3

Day 3 of the 7-Day Nature Challenge is getting up close and personal with a sand crab we came across when first digging our toes into the wet sand on our walk to Pincushion Island on the beautiful Sunshine Coast of Queensland.

Crab Eyes

The lovely Desley Jane of Musings of a Frequent Flying Scientist has nominated me for this wonderful challenge. As I keep saying, do visit her fabulous blog if you aren’t already familiar with it.

In turn I’d like to invite Linda from Living with my Ancestors  to join in. Linda, who although has quite the four-legged family, fortunately still finds time to share captures of her beautiful surroundings with us!

Front Row to a New Day (OWPC: Bench)

This week’s word for Jennifer Nichole Wells’ One Word Photo Challenge is… Bench.

We are very fortunate at present as where we are currently staying whilst visiting my darling mother in Australia, on the dock attached to our apartment block, is a bench where one can sit to contemplate the day.

Bench - Front Row to the New Day

Master Fourteen, being the keen fisherman that he is, has already spent many an hour on that dock with either fishing line or fishing net in hand.

Personally, I prefer to simply take advantage of this bench in the early hours of the morning as the sun makes its way into the sky. This time of the day, no matter what the outlook, is always my favourite time of day.

Here however, the birds who have made the island to the left their home fill the air with their morning calls, whilst the migratory birds fly in waves across the sky. Yes, it is definitely the most glorious time of the day!

Summer Mornings at the Beach (OWPC)

One thing I don’t miss about Australia is the long, hot summers. On saying this however, I do rather like being able to walk along the beach early in the morning before the hustle and bustle of the day begins.

Summer Mornings at the Beach

Summer is the last of Jennifer Nichole Wells One Word (Weather) Photo Challenge words. It’s been absolutely fabulous, and indeed challenging at times, matching photos with her weather words.

Next week we have the chance to choose our own image, then it’s onto a List of Animals from A to Z – now there’s a challenge one has to accept, lol! Be sure to check out Jennifer’s blog yourself to join in, the links below.

Morning Silhouette (October One Four Challenge: Week 4)

It’s the fourth and final week for Robyn’s One Four Challenge. This is where we choose one of our own images, then each week for the next four weeks we process it in a different way. Hence… One Four Challenge!

This week I’ve darkened the image quite a lot to create quite the stormy effect then brightened just the sand and sand-bags so you could still see the those details. And yes, naturally the contrast has been upped… of course!

Here is my previous week’s images, along with the original, for you to make your own comparisons.

Morning Silhouette (October One Four Challenge: Week 3)

It’s Week 3 of Robyn’s One Four Challenge. It’s where we choose one of our own images, then each week for the next four weeks we process it in a different way. Hence… One Four Challenge!

This week I’ve slightly cropped the image, leaving only a hint of the sun at the top then had the image Reflected, giving the illusion the ocean water had pooled behind this mound of sand with the trees.

Morning Silhouette (October One Four Challenge: Week 2)

It’s Week 2 of Robyn’s One Four Challenge. It’s where we choose one of our own images, then each week for the next four weeks we process it in a different way. Hence the One Four Challenge!

This week I’ve altered both the Saturation and Hues of my photography to create the feeling of perhaps a pending storm. Not that I can remember but I’m sure I’ve bumped up the contrast. (I think that goes without saying now don’t you, lol?)

FOR SALE – Ocean Views! (Cee’s Odd Ball Photo Challenge #38)

Walking on the beach early one morning back in Australia I came upon this sign. We were looking for something for sale that had ocean views but this?

Beach for Sale

Mowing isn’t something I’m particularly fond of but shovelling and bagging sand is even lower on the list so we passed, lol! Hopefully the sign was returned to its rightful owner for an actual sale.
