When taking a walk around our neighbourhood early one morning last month I came across a bush with these small pink flowers dotted over it. Turns out this was the Salmonberry flower.
The fruit looks very much like a raspberry, with colours ranging from a dark orange to dark red. As for their taste… one could say it’s an acquired taste!
Yes, I know, I know… this is the same photo from yesterday but what can I say? I like it!
Honestly, I like both equally, be it in color or in black and white – sometimes it just comes down to mood don’t you think?!
Even after all these weeks later I still can’t decide if these berries which LOOK like blueberries are actually blueberries.
Does it matter? Not at all as at the time all temptation to try one was resisted, instead savouring the moment with this photo!

Okay, so I guess strictly speaking these are not Christmas Berries but for the sake of this photo, and in the spirit of Christmas, I’m going to call them just that!
This photograph was taken when we had that one and only snow fall at the beginning of the month. Odd to think of snowfall here as something of a rarity, not the norm.
Which obviously begs the questions, seriously… “mum, how much longer?”
