Unlock your inner Unicorn! (OWPC – lock)

Don’t you just love this unicorn we picked up last month at the local Christmas Craft Fair? It is so, so cute. Every time I walk past our ornament tree I can’t help but smile at it.

Lock is the One Word Photo Challenge from Tourmaline this week.

Whoo whoo likes Christmas? (Macro Monday)

What’s not to love about this cute little owl nestled amongst the branches of our foyer Christmas tree, keeping his delicate glass self out of harms way?

At least one hopes this owl is out of harms way. With two cats that seem to digress to kitten mode whenever the temperatures begin dropping, it’s hard to know for certain!

Been good all year… nearly! (Fun Friday)

When I first began decorating the house this year, I had grandiose plans for these permanent wreaths on our barn doors. Then I unpacked these hats, putting them into the wreaths on a lark… and liked it.

A larger stocking was originally hung from it but when I saw these smaller ones last week I couldn’t resist. They were just what was needed, with the other stocking saying, “Santa I can explain“.

Christmas Joy (Christmas Countdown)

These oversized Christmas ornaments were some of the very first Christmas decorations I bought here to celebrate our very first Christmas in Canada.

Finding the right spot for them since our move though proved more than a little challenging. So much so they weren’t even unboxed last year. This year however they sit out proudly complete with tea-lights.

Into the night sky! (Wordless Wednesday)

Seriously, do I LOOK like a Llama? (OWPC – Llama)

This is Herbert. I’d popped into the grocery store last month to simply pick up some milk and came away with Herbert. Herbert being the name the woman behind me in line named him. It stuck. He looks like a Herbert.

Herbert really is rockin’ the rustic vibe with all those pine-cones, twigs and burlap. His facial expression though for me is priceless. He really does appear to be quite shocked at being called a Llama.

Llama is the One Word Photo Challenge from Tourmaline this week.

Tizzied up trivet! (Macro Monday)

When I first began preparing the house for Christmas last month, this small metal trivet actually had a ten-inch glass cloche covering the candle and baubles. It did have. Note, past tense.

Since then, Sir Fergus on one of his nightly escapades, on jumping through the foyer/dining room alcove, knocked one of the candle stick holders onto the trivet. Interestingly the glass didn’t shatter there. Oh no, that would have been WAY too easy.

Bizarrely the cloche somehow was knocked completely off the trivet onto the ground where it shattered into a thousand pieces. All I wanted was a quick coffee before my shower but instead there I was searching for broken glass… ugh!

Hats off to Christmas! (Fun Friday)

Rabbit, rabbit. Pinch and a punch for the first of the month. And what’s super exciting about this month, it’s the first day of the Christmas month… woot woot!

With this in mind I thought I change things up for Friday’s this month, from flowers to something a little bit fun. This is just one of two oversized Christmas hats I have. They sit next to our sofa table, one on top of the other filled with fairy lights.

In hindsight, I really should have included the sofa table to give some perspective of the size of these hats which, when stacked, stand three feet tall!

Christmas… don’t you just LOVE IT!

Chihuly with a hint of Christmas! (Friday Flowers)

These flowers were outside in the gardens of the Chihuly Glass and Garden exhibition in Seattle. It was the end of the day, the sun was setting and people were not wanting to stop whilst I took my happy snaps.

Consequently I wasn’t particularly happy with any of my photos. That was until I transferred one to my phone. Oh the joy of photo editing apps… they breathe new life into anything!

Time for a little Christmas Light (OWPC – Light)

It’s that time of year again… time to dust off and drag down all the boxes of Christmas decorations that have been safely tucked away in the attic for the year.

It’s time for a little Christmas color, time for a little Christmas clutter, time to light up Christmas. Let the Christmas Countdown begin… woot, woot!

Light is the One Word Photo Challenge from Tourmaline this week.
