Christmas is so close. You can feel the excitement in the air as the days are ticked off the calendar. Everything looks that much prettier after a coating of Christmas.

Things are getting serious now. Only one week and counting before Christmas is officially upon us. Sadly, Christmas is going to be over before we know it.
This wire gift is just one of a set of four. They were bought after our first Christmas in Canada. Thinking back, I think they were actually the store’s own decorations and rather than putting them away, they sold them. Lucky me!
This plush little blushing Santa is so very colorful in his suit of pink, blue and green. He was bought when we unexpectedly found ourselves in Australia for Christmas, celebrating another two, before moving to Canada.
Our belongings had been packed up months earlier for transporting to Canada. Then came the GFC, postponing our move. Christmas was in two weeks, decorations were needed. It would be four months before our belongings returned to us.
Don’t you just love this unicorn we picked up last month at the local Christmas Craft Fair? It is so, so cute. Every time I walk past our ornament tree I can’t help but smile at it.

When I first began preparing the house for Christmas last month, this small metal trivet actually had a ten-inch glass cloche covering the candle and baubles. It did have. Note, past tense.
Since then, Sir Fergus on one of his nightly escapades, on jumping through the foyer/dining room alcove, knocked one of the candle stick holders onto the trivet. Interestingly the glass didn’t shatter there. Oh no, that would have been WAY too easy.
Bizarrely the cloche somehow was knocked completely off the trivet onto the ground where it shattered into a thousand pieces. All I wanted was a quick coffee before my shower but instead there I was searching for broken glass… ugh!
Rabbit, rabbit. Pinch and a punch for the first of the month. And what’s super exciting about this month, it’s the first day of the Christmas month… woot woot!
With this in mind I thought I change things up for Friday’s this month, from flowers to something a little bit fun. This is just one of two oversized Christmas hats I have. They sit next to our sofa table, one on top of the other filled with fairy lights.
In hindsight, I really should have included the sofa table to give some perspective of the size of these hats which, when stacked, stand three feet tall!
Christmas… don’t you just LOVE IT!
