Sunflowers have been bought with the shopping every other week for the sole purpose of photographing. And every other week the petals begin falling before inspiration has hit, lol. Today however I thought I would embarrass my petal-less bloom!
After plucking the few remaining petals off, it was intriguing to see how the sunflower kept it’s sunflower essence thanks to its Involucre, the green petal-like parts at the flower’s base.
Sometimes even I am left speechless at the amount of tweaking I do to a photo when I’m editing it on the iPhone. Seriously, this flower was on a bush of many blooms yet here it is, single and alone. Oh well!
The only defence I have is that the children must have taken longer then usual getting to the car after school that day as that’s when I tend to do my phone editing, sitting in the school car park. Ah yes dear friends, it’s all about time management, lol!😂
Here I am with my NOLA rose into the second week of the ONE FOUR CHALLENGE by Captivate Me. This week I’ve chosen to go “dark and mysterious“, kinda sorta.
Anyone who follows me on Instagram will know I have quite the fondness for vignettes so it’s no surprise that I’ve added it to this photo whilst reducing the black, highlighting the shadows (that’s sounds like a contradiction doesn’t it?).
Tulips for me always represent the arrival of Spring, even when they’re in a display at the Bellagio in Las Vegas!
We knew the Bellagio was going to be an impressive hotel, but little did we appreciate on what scale this would be until we saw the garden of potted flowers which we could actually walk through IN THEIR FOYER! Seriously?
Even before we arrived in Canada it was our plan to create multiple pots of flowers, herbs and vegetables for our decks.
Each year I buy hanging pots filled with growing color, and each year my daughter enquires about our own pots of plants and… “mum, how much longer?”
There’s just something about a fresh flower that draws me in like a moth to a flame. I simply can’t get enough of them!
Given the particular flower family this bloom generates from, it’s more than appropriate to ask… “mum, how much longer?”
My roses from last month are well and truly past their use by date but still I find beauty within them.
Each day I wonder about throwing them out but as I have nothing to replace them with find no desire to do.
Then again, Valentine’s Day is coming up isn’t it? Hmmm… “mum, how much longer?”
The summer showers continue, bringing new life to the earth, refreshing what is already here. LOVE IT! 🙂
One can NEVER have enough water droplets. Unless of course it’s that continual leak from our bathtub over one of the tables down in the Studio.
Now THAT I have had MORE than enough of, seriously… “mum, how much longer?”
