Summer floating by… (Macro Monday)

Whilst daughter and I were hiking over the summer we came across many of these spider webs still covered with early morning dew drops, giving the illusion of floating.

MM Floating Wisps of Summer

Wow, who would have ever thought I’d be using words like hiking and early morning in the one sentence? My goodness, the times they really ARE a changing!

Way back when it was summer…

With the children starting back at high school tomorrow, for me the summer is well and truly over and fall is here despite what the calendars or others may say.

We were a tad overambitious with our backyard with not quite as many of our summer projects being ticked off our list as hoped. However this is our wonderful new fence the Hubster created from old pallets. Isn’t it just fabulous? It pairs well with our Japanese Maple!

MM Side Fence

The backyard is still very much a work in progress but this fence alone has made it feel so much better already. Our kitchen on the other-hand has come along in leaps and bounds, woohoo!

All this is very different to the “behind the scenes’ with this blog. A sure tell-tale sign you’ve not posted for a long time is when you go to write a post and nothing, and I mean NOTHING, is the same. The entire layout and setup is different. Goodness, the times they really are a changing!

Head first into the day ahead! (Feathered Friday)

No matter how many Bald Eagles I see, each and everything I see one I still stop and look in awe at these magnificent creatures. No matter their size, they always look graceful.

With such an abundance of bird life this spring I thought I’d begin a “Feathered Friday” to introduce you to just a few of the new, and not so new, arrivals!

Keeping an Eagle eye on things! (Feathered Friday)

It was such a surprise when taking photos one morning of the reflections in the water to then look up and suddenly see this gentlemen above me. As my heart pounded he appeared completely unfazed by my presence.

Touring MY Islands (WPC: Tour Guide)

This week the Daily Post for their Weekly Photo Challenge is asking us to be a Tour Guide by sharing images of where we live. Driving the children to school, I found what could be many captures to highlight our small town. Then the sun came out…

Although we’ve had no real snow of late to talk about only rain, just outside our town has had a surprisingly lot of snow in just the last week alone. In fact our highway, the only way in and out of town, was closed for 24 hours due to a high avalanche risk.

When the sun broke through the clouds yesterday morning, this short respite in weather allowed the highway to reopen thus allowing our life to continue as scripted. It was like watching the heavy stage curtain rise to reveal the performance behind!
