Vase of Yesteryear (One Four Challenge – Week 4)

Here is my submission for Week 4 of the One Four Challenge hosted by Robyn Gosby at Captivate Me.

Week 4

Week 4

This week I’ve cropped the photo, bumped up the brightness, deepened the colour in the flowers, and then added a haze to create a glow over the peonies. I then added a white vignette to remove any trace of the background images.

Below are my submissions from the previous weeks for comparison.

Vase of Yesteryear - Week 3

Having adjusted the colours for the first week, then changing the photo to sepia last week, I couldn’t help but wonder what the result of combining the two would be.

A mask was created over the flowers again. This time I adjusted the hue, endeavouring to bring out the pink in the peonies. A mask was then created over the remainder of the photo to change the colour to grey tones, with a vignette once again added.

Vase of Yesteryear (One-Four-Challenge: Week 2)

Here is my submission for Week 2 of the One Four Challenge hosted by Robyn Gosby at Captivate Me.

Vase of Yesteryear - Week 2

Last week after brightening the original photo, then adjusting the saturation and contrast and rotating the photo slightly, I substituted sepia tones for the colour. However, the vignette I then added altered the photos appearance more to grey tones.

Vase of YesterYear (One-Four-Challenge: Week 1)

It’s that time again, time for the next One-Four-Challenge, woo hoo – oh, how I love this challenge!

This is my first EVER vase of peonies. Actually, it’s my first peony also. Someone once told me peonies won’t keep in a vase, they die immediately. Mine however from the grocery store lasted extremely well. Anyways, here is my effort for Week 1.

Vase of Yesteryear - Week 1

Below is the original which, to say the flowers were a tad in shadows, could be an understatement. Obviously I needed to first brighten the photo to see exactly what I had to work with. Following this both the saturation and contrast needed to be adjusted.

Even after this the colours in the flowers still weren’t strong enough so a mask (something I’m still mastering) was used over the flowers alone to brighten them. Then all that was required was to straighten the vase ever so slightly.
