Say NO to Transient Trash! (WPC – Transient)

When on holidays or simply at the beach, what does a piece or two of trash slipping out of one’s fingers matters? It matters a heck of a lot when you see what’s left behind after a cyclone’s been and gone.

Living our lives as transient beings is one thing, however not dealing with our trash along the way is a completely other matter. Transient is The Daily Post Photo Challenge this week.

7 Day Nature Challenge – Day 1

Welcome to Day 1 of the 7 Day Nature Challenge.

For Day 1 I’m sharing a photo of Pincushion Island. This island sits at the mouth of the Maroochy River on the Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Each morning on a recent visit to Australia we looked out upon this island, finally exploring it on our last day!

The lovely Desley Jane of Musings of a Frequent Flying Scientist has nominated me for this wonderful challenge. Do visit her fabulous blog if you aren’t already familiar with it.

In turn I’d like to ask Spotted Cow of Wandering Cows to join in. The Spotted Cow’s captures of her travels around England and abroad are just incredible. It’s so worth a visit if you haven’t already done so!

Front Row to a New Day (OWPC: Bench)

This week’s word for Jennifer Nichole Wells’ One Word Photo Challenge is… Bench.

We are very fortunate at present as where we are currently staying whilst visiting my darling mother in Australia, on the dock attached to our apartment block, is a bench where one can sit to contemplate the day.

Master Fourteen, being the keen fisherman that he is, has already spent many an hour on that dock with either fishing line or fishing net in hand.

Personally, I prefer to simply take advantage of this bench in the early hours of the morning as the sun makes its way into the sky. This time of the day, no matter what the outlook, is always my favourite time of day.

Here however, the birds who have made the island to the left their home fill the air with their morning calls, whilst the migratory birds fly in waves across the sky. Yes, it is definitely the most glorious time of the day!

Morning Silhouettes (October One Four Challenge: Week 1)

Woo hoo, that time again for the One Four Challenge hosted by Robyn of Captivate Me. Each month we get to choose our own photo which we then process in a different way each week for four weeks. Hence, the One Four Challenge.

Here is my photo, two trees silhouetted against a cloudy sky, one I took on one of my many morning walks whilst in Australia.

One Four Challenge - 1-4-1

Here is my original for a quick comparison. As you can see, this week I haven’t even gone in for the crop, I’ve simply converted this into black and white, tweaking the contrast just a little.

With a river outside my balcony and a beach around the corner, that was all the incentive I needed to get out to walking each day. To watch the sun rising over the water each morning, that was simply an amazing bonus!
